Eric Arimoto is a native Angeleno, US Army veteran, a 4th generation Japanese American and former owner of his own furniture manufacturing business. Years of personal therapy, group work and recovery work led Eric to return to college in his 40's. He earned a BA and MA in clinical psychology in 2010 and 2012 respectively and was licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2016. He is the DMH clinical supervisor at the Long Beach Mental Evaluation Team (LBMET) and is responsible for supervising 6 MET clinicians, one Quality of Life (Homeless Outreach) clinician and a clerical support staff member. MET teams rely on a collaboration between mental health and law enforcement to provide a safe, multi-pronged response to folks experiencing a mental health crisis. Prior to being a supervisor, Eric worked with the Sheriff Department's MET/RAMP Team (Risk Assessment and Management Team) providing follow up on critical cases, coordinating outreach with various agencies (Schools, Board of Supervisors, FBI, other DMH entities), and providing linkage to high utilizers of County resources.
