Glareh “Gigi” Zanganeh, MSW

Ms. Zanganeh has more than 15 years of experience in the field of health and human services, including extensive experience in client connections to resources and building programs for the chronically homeless. Ms. Zanganeh currently works as an MSW embedded in the Long Beach City Prosecutor's Office and oversees several diversion programs, including Homeless Court and Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion. Ms. Zanganeh is an expert in leading large and diverse teams, developing collaborative case management and street outreach programs, and implementing effective systems to address chronic homelessness. Ms. Zanganeh’s unique background of working with law enforcement and homeless service providers supports the City Prosecutor’s Office's community-based diversion programs. 

In her work prior to the City of Long Beach, Ms. Zanganeh served as the Director of Programs for a nonprofit organization in Orange County. She managed several homeless shelter programs and coordinated wraparound services for vulnerable populations such as individuals with severe and persistent mental illness or substance use disorders, foster youth, domestic violence victims and human trafficking victims. Ms. Zanganeh has directed homeless census projects in fourteen cities and facilitated multi-sector collaborations, bringing government, community based and faith-based organizations together to address homelessness. She has also developed and facilitated training courses on mental health and homelessness for hundreds of first responders. Prior to joining the City Prosecutor’s Office, she worked in the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services as the first social worker in the jail, where she was responsible for triaging individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders to treatment programs upon release from custody. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Zanganeh launched several emergency shelters and isolation sites to address the needs of the homeless population. Ms. Zanganeh received her BA in Communications from UC San Diego and her Masters in Social Work, with an concentration in Military Social Work, from the University of Southern California.
